Library Lovers Book Tag

In honor of having a library card for one year, I took this tag from Jenn Renee Read & Ash Too!

How often do you visit your local library?

I’m usually in there every week or ten days picking up books I ordered online.

Are you the type of person who checks out more books than you know you can read or are you someone who only checks out the exact amount of books you intend on reading before they are due?

I check out more than I can read. My library’s YA section is pretty…sad. We’ll go with sad. I order books from other libraries and I try to get on the waiting list for new releases as soon as I can. Sometimes I get a lot of books coming in at once by design and sometimes it’s just because my name is next up on the waiting list. I try to order a lot of books to come at once now. I used to drive right by the library on my way to and from work, but now it’s kind of a massive pain to go through there because of neverending construction-caused blinking red lights in every single intersection in that area, which takes forever to get through because there’s so much traffic downtown anyway. So now I go around the area entirely. It’s longer in distance but gets me there in less time. But I’m nowhere near the library.

How old were you when you got your first library card?
We always went to the library when I was young, but I don’t remember having my own card. We just had a family card. My parents were very supportive of reading because they’re both teachers.

Do you go to your library looking for a particular book or do you check out anything that peaks your interest?

I usually know what I’m looking for. I’ve read most of the books in my library’s YA section and I’m not interested in most of the ones I haven’t read.

Do you use your library to check out just books or do you also check out DVDs, audio books etc.?

I checked out an audiobook last month but I haven’t found much of interest there or in their DVDs. Both sections are pretty dated.

From what section of your library do you check out a majority of your books? (YA, middle grade, adult, nonfiction.)

YA and middle grade.

What is your favorite part of using your local library?

See my Money Matters posts from 2015. Even though I have to pay for my library card, I saved a lot of money using the library and I still got to read some newer books. I don’t keep most of the books I read anyway, even when I buy them, so it makes more sense to borrow them.

  1. I really should use my library more. It’s close by and I just never seem to go there- that and I keep buying ebooks, something I never used to do. And DVD’s- I could be renting movies and stuff from the library, I guess I never think of it.

It’s funny how some libraries are great and others not so much. I don’t think our YA section is that hot either, although they have a ton of MG.

    • My library mixes MG in with younger-age books so it’s hard to tell how much they have. The kids section is much larger than the YA section though. Instead of browsing, I usually just go online and order what I want to read. Then if my library has it, they’ll pull it and save it for me, and if they don’t, I’ll get a call in a few days that the book I wanted is in.
