Picks of the Month: September 2015

Picks of the Month is my monthly feature. Modeled after what I’m loving lately at Annie’s Eats (one of my favorite food blogs), I’ll be sharing the products, websites, pop culture, apps, etc that made my life easier and/or more fun the previous month. And, yes, as this is a book blog, I will probably find a way to sneak some mention of my favorite reads from the month too! Last month I got addicted to studyblrs on tumblr. (In {Read More}

Review: H2O by Virginia Bergin

It’s in the rain…and just one drop will kill you. They don’t believe it at first. Crowded in Zach’s kitchen, Ruby and the rest of the partygoers laugh at Zach’s parents’ frenzied push to get them all inside as it starts to drizzle. But then the radio comes on with the warning, “It’s in the rain! It’s fatal, it’s contagious, and there’s no cure.” Two weeks later, Ruby is alone. Anyone who’s been touched by rain or washed their hands {Read More}

Blog Ahead 2015

It’s time for Blog Ahead! I didn’t do so well with the mini-Blog Ahead earlier this year (I fell right into my blogging hiatus) but last year’s Blog Ahead, which took place in November, was very helpful for me. I only wish I had been able to keep it up. That’s okay, though. I’ll just have to try harder this time around. I am starting October with 2 scheduled posts, so I hope to end the month with 33.

Chaotic Goddess Swapoween

After the fun I had last year with the Chaotic Goddess 12 Days of Christmas swap, one of my goals for 2015 was to join more swaps. The year is rapidly coming to an end and I haven’t gotten around to it yet, but as soon as I read about it (last November, when I was looking at their site) I knew that I HAD to join Swapoween, also hosted by CGSwaps. I’ve been waiting all year! I’ve even had {Read More}

Review: Sweet by Emmy Laybourne

*People would kill to be thin.* Solu’s luxurious celebrity-filled “Cruise to Lose” is billed as “the biggest cruise since the Titanic,” and if the new diet sweetener works as promised—dropping five percent of a person’s body weight in just days—it really could be the answer to the world’s obesity problem. But Laurel is starting to regret accepting her friend Viv’s invitation. She’s already completely embarrassed herself in front of celebrity host, Tom Forelli (otherwise known as the hottest guy ever!) {Read More}

Weekly Rewind: August 30 – September 19

The Weekly Rewind is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. life I’ve been working through Make WordPress Your Bitch, a free course from Ashley at Nose Graze. I’m only halfway through but I recommend it. Even if you think you know all of it, or most of it, it might encourage you to do some maintenance on your blog like I did. I already knew I wanted to streamline my categories, but I {Read More}

Review: After Hours by Claire Kennedy

Isa, Xavi, Peter, and Finn know that a job at the high-end Waterside Cafe isn’t just about waiting tables. It’s about the gossip, the hook-ups, the after-hours parties and, most of all, it’s about Tips. Tips–the high-stakes game based on dares. Whoever completes the most dares wins the collected money.
