The Reading Habits Tag

I saw this on Downright Dystopian.

1. Do you have a certain place for reading at home?
Not really. I read in different spots, wherever I happen to be, but never in bed.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?
If they’re handy, I use bookmarks. I think both of my current physical books have bookmarks in them.

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter or a certain number of pages?
I’ll stop reading mid-sentence.

4. Do you eat or drink when reading?
It’s more that I read when I’m eating. If I sit down to read not at a mealtime, I might have water nearby, but I don’t snack much.

5. Do you watch TV or listen to music whilst reading?
Music, no. Sometimes I have the TV on and I’ll read during commercials.

6. One book at a time or several at once?
Several, always! I have different books for different areas of my house, my Kindle, and my iPad.

7. Reading at home or everywhere?
I actually read more away from home. I read the most on my lunch break at work. At home there are too many distractions.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?
Silently.

9. Do you ever read ahead or skip passages?
That’s how I always read. I don’t skip entire pages or flip ahead of where I am, but if you open a book, I don’t read the left page from top to bottom and then the right page from top to bottom. I kind of take it all in at once and skip around on the pages. It’s weird. Maybe that’s one reason I prefer my Kindle and read faster on it? There aren’t as many words competing for my attention when there’s just the one “page.”

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it new?
I break the spines, but I try not to beat up the books. But I also read a lot of used books and library books and don’t mind battered copies, as long as they’re not falling apart.

11. Do you write in your books?
No and I don’t like reading books with writing either. I used to write in my textbooks though. I was also a huge fan of highlighters. I still love highlighters. I just don’t have a need for them anymore.

12. What are you currently reading?
North of Beautiful by Justina Chen is one of the books I’m reading.

  1. Nice one! I find it funny that at home you find too many distractions. For me is the other way around, outside it’s full of distracting people and noise. I copied the tag for myself 😉
