Picks of the Month: February 2015

Picks of the Month is my monthly feature. Modeled after what I’m loving lately at Annie’s Eats (one of my favorite food blogs), I’ll be sharing the products, websites, pop culture, apps, etc that made my life easier and/or more fun the previous month. And, yes, as this is a book blog, I will probably find a way to sneak some mention of my favorite reads from the month too!

Game of War

I know I listed Game of War last month, but I am having SO much fun with it. I love my alliance. Even when we’re being beaten up by the larger alliances in our kingdom (which happens a lot) we’re having fun.

I’ve been going to the library a lot. I’m determined to get my $63 worth out of the card, so I’m ordering books from other libraries like crazy. I already got one and have another on the way, plus a couple for my aunt. I have holds on some books that aren’t even out yet. I’ve downloaded some ebooks and when I get finish my current audiobook I’ll look into their audiobooks too. (Depending on the selection and availability, I may end up dropping my Audible subscription.)

The library sure has changed since I last had a card. Back then, you couldn’t go to more than one library on the same card. You would have to get a card for each library. The librarian had to do any ordering for you. There were no ebooks. You couldn’t check your account online to see what you had out and when everything was due back. You had to go in, or at least call, to renew books. Things are so much simpler now!

Favorite books I read in February
Losing It by Cora Carmack

Just one five star book this month: Losing It by Cora Carmack. I got bogged down in some books that I ended up DNFing and didn’t get as many books read as I did in January. Hopefully March will be better.

  1. You had to pay for your library cards?
