The TBR Tag

The TBR Tag was created by Rachel and Dana. No one actually tagged me, but I’ve seen this around and wanted to do it, so why not?

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
I don’t keep track very well, but I use Goodreads. My Goodreads account is a mess though. I have books on my TBR shelf that I’ve already read, simply because I didn’t put them on the correct shelf when I added them to my account. I’ve recently started trying to put books on a TBR-own shelf when I buy them, but I usually don’t remember to do it. I should probably scrap that shelf.

Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?
Mostly ebook. I don’t really pay attention to format on Goodreads. I might add the hardcover version knowing full well that I’ll buy the Kindle version. It’s fun to get book mail from publishers and authors, and I have recently started doing that sometimes, but I rarely buy print books for myself. I’m mostly likely just going to donate them after I’ve read them, so I might as well just get the ebook version and not clutter up my house.

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?
I take a look at ARCs I have and their release dates. If nothing jumps out at me at the moment, I’ll pick something older that I’ve been wanting to read since its release and read that. I hate the term mood reader though. Every time I see someone refer to herself as a mood reader, it makes me think she’s a petulant teenager (even if I know she’s an adult) or has PMS.

A Book That’s Been On Your TBR List The Longest
Seventeenth Summer by Maureen DalyI opened my account in November 2007 and started adding all the books I owned that day. There are a lot of romances, mysteries, and true crimes on there: a lot of books I don’t want to read anymore. Some of those are books I’ve already given away but haven’t removed. Just sitting here answering this question, I did a little maintenance and either deleted or moved to Read over 100 books.

One of the books I added that day and still want to read is Seventeenth Summer by Maureen Daly. Written in 1942, Seventeenth Summer was one of the first, if not the first YA books ever published.

A Book You Recently Added To Your TBR
Miss Mayhem by Rachel Hawkins is the sequel to Rebel Belle, a book I was surprised at how much I liked it. I got denied for Miss Mayhem on Edelweiss so I’ll have to wait until April for it.

A Book In Your TBR Strictly Because Of Its Beautiful Cover
These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan SpoonerThese Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner isn’t really my type of book, but I added it because of the beautiful cover and the hype. I know readers of that genre love it, I’m not but I’m not a sci-fi fan currently and unless that changes, I’ll probably never read it. Just the mention spaceships makes my eyes start to glaze over.

A Book On Your TBR That You Never Plan on Reading

Do I need to explain why I won’t be reading No One Else Can Have You by Kathleen Hale? #haleno

An Unpublished Book On Your TBR That You’re Excited For

Salt & Stone by Victoria ScottI’m so excited for Salt & Stone by Victoria Scott that I’m thinking about rereading Fire & Flood so that I can finally write a review on that one. I guess that isn’t the final cover for Salt & Stone? I don’t know. It looks fine to me.

A Book On Your TBR That Basically Everyone’s Read But You
I finally read Anna and the French Kiss in August, but I haven’t gotten around to Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins yet. I loved Anna, but I’m not the type of person who can read all the books in a series, even if there are only three, in a row.

A Book On Your TBR That Everyone Recommends To You
Eh, I don’t really know anyone in the blogging community well enough that they’re recommending books to me personally. My offline friends aren’t readers.

A Book On Your TBR That You’re Dying To Read
There are so many! I’ve been eyeing Get Even by Gretchen McNeil the last few times I’ve been looking for a new book to read. I have yet to get to it, but I think it’s going to hapen soon.

How many books are on your Goodreads TBR shelf?
995 – and that’s after the purge of the 100+ earlier. I still have a lot more than I can delete or move to Read, but I only have the patience to work on it a little at a time.

Since I wasn’t tagged, I’m not tagging anyone specific either…just YOU!
