Picks of the Month: November 2014

picksofthemonth

Picks of the Month is my monthly feature. Modeled after what I’m loving lately at Annie’s Eats (one of my favorite food blogs), I’ll be sharing the products, websites, pop culture, apps, etc that made my life easier and/or more fun the previous month. And, yes, as this is a book blog, I will probably find a way to sneak some mention of my favorite reads from the month too!

Taylor Swift 1989
I’ve been a Taylor Swift fan ever since she started out (on the radio, at least) but I really love 1989. My favorite songs are Blank Space and Style and I need to stop listening to them on repeat so I can get to know the others as well.

Serial podcast
The Serial Podcast tells the story of a 1999 Baltimore murder and the people involved. Since I already love true crime and podcasts, this is the perfect podcast for me. Episodes are 35-50 minutes long and I wish they were longer. If you’re going to start listening to Serial, I’d recommend waiting a few more weeks until they have all been released and then binging on them. Unless they take a holiday break again (there was no episode on Thanksgiving), the first season should be finished by the end of the year.

There are also a few podcasts covering the podcast, so now that I’m almost caught up, I’m going to start listening to them too.

Vanilla Bean Noel - Bath & Body Works

My hands get so dry during the winter and I always mean to use lotion on them but I put it off and forget. Last year I got some Vanilla Bean Noel lotion from Bath & Body Works. I used it a few times until misplaced it, but I found the bottle again a few weeks ago and I can’t stop using it. It smells so good! I made sure to buy some more when I was doing some online shopping last week.

Drive Me Crazy by Terra Elan McVoy Creed by Trisha Leaver and Lindsay Currie Snowed Over by Angie Stanton

Favorite books I read in November: I didn’t read any five-star books this month, but I did have three books earn 4 stars: Drive Me Crazy by Terra Elan McVoy, Creed by Trisha Leaver and Lindsay Currie, and Snowed Over by Angie Stanton. Reviews for Creed and Snowed Over are scheduled for this month, but Drive Me Crazy isn’t out until late April so it will be awhile before I post that one.

  1. I love the package of that Vanilla Bean Noel lotion, it’s so cute. I also have very dry hands in winter, it’s annoying. I have a cacao scented lotion I use nowadays. I never heard of the concept of a serial podcast before, sounds interesting, although I don’t think true crime really is somethign for me. I am now going to check out that food blog you mentioned, one can never follow too many food blogs ;).
