Picks of the Month is my monthly feature. Modeled after what I’m loving lately at Annie’s Eats (one of my favorite food blogs), I’ll be sharing the products, websites, pop culture, apps, etc that made my life easier and/or more fun the previous month. And, yes, as this is a book blog, I will probably find a way to sneak some mention of my favorite reads from the month too!
I saw Digipill advertised on Twitter and was curious so I downloaded the app to my iPad. It comes with one “pill,” the relaxation pill, with others (deep sleep, weight loss, and study success, among others) available for purchase. I’m sticking with the free one.
Digipill uses psychoacoustics to allow you to unlock your subconscious and change your perception.
It’s kind of new-agey for me, but I started listening to the relaxation pill and fell asleep before the thirteen minutes were up, so I’ve kept on listening every night. The guy’s voice is a strange combination of soothing and creepy, described by one iTunes reviewer as an “old German scientist.” I’m not sure what an old German scientist sounds like, but I don’t think that description is too far off. He has an odd accent.
I don’t drink coffee, but I love hot chocolate. Lately I’ve been drinking a lot of white hot chocolate, which I love even more than regular hot chocolate. I like to stick a candy cane in it to make it a little pepperminty.
Favorite books I read in December: Although I’m in the middle of a few more, I actually only finished three books during December. How embarrassing. My favorite was Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead. I listened to the audiobook and will be posting my review next month.
