Weekly Rewind: August 3-9

The Weekly Rewind is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It’s been cloudy and gloomy here, not like August at all. I don’t like it! After the last few weeks being so dry, we had so much rain this week. It rained all day on Thursday and when I checked my rain gauge on Friday, it was full at five inches. We probably had more but my rain gauge couldn’t hold any more.

Trish explains why memes are not evil incarnate. I love this post because I’ve tried to write one like it and never finished it. I love memes. Sometimes I do them, sometimes I don’t. I don’t participate in them all and I don’t read them all. They’re easily skipped if I don’t feel like reading them, but I find it really annoying when people are super negative about memes and blogs that do them. If you don’t want to do them, don’t. If you don’t want to read them, don’t. If you’re annoyed by how many memes are cluttering up your feed, maybe you should take another look at who you’re following and why.

  1. Sorry about the weather there. I spent all morning yesterday vacuuming our pool. SERIOUSLY Just when I finished the storm clouds moved in. I had been hoping to jump in for a swim, but that didn’t happen. I’m with you, I don’t think memes are evil either. I think they can be overdone. And I think there’s one person in particular that downs memes that also hosts a meme and that meme specifically is exactly what she says she hates in other memes. IJS. I only participate in the ones I like. And like this week sometimes I skip one I was planning to do because I’m just not feeling it. Hope you have a great week!

    • Haha, now you have me wondering which one it is. Yeah, I don’t do all of the ones I do every week. I pick and choose based on the week’s topic. I love Top Ten Tuesday and would like to do that one consistently, but it’s a lot of work and sometimes I’m just not into the topic.

  2. Thanks for the shout out Jenna, I thoroughly agree with you. I hate the negativity too, memes have loads of good points and I love the interaction they encourage.
I’m starting Dangerous Boys later this week, I can’t wait! hope it’s as good as Dangerous Girls which I adored.

    • I’m surprised at how much negativity and drama there is in this community. I think if people would step back and look at it, they would realize how bad it makes the community as a whole look.

I haven’t read Dangerous Girls but I don’t think I have to before I read Dangerous Boys. I’m really excited about it!

  3. Some memes are good and some are – not. Blanket statements are more evil than almost anything. Whoever says something like that is unable to distinguish based on quality.
It’s like there was a bad lot of something like oranges, and then everyone assumed all oranges were bad.

  4. We’re finally getting hot weather now that we’re in August- it’s been a cool summer for us up til now. Kinda weird, the last few summers have been hot hot hot. I like your feature title Middle Grade Madness. It’s nice to see MG reviews and I look forward to seeing what you have in store.

Indian Summer and Nest both sound interesting.

  5. That’s a lot of rain you got! We’ve had quite some rain here as well, although it is nice as it finally cools down a bit. Our summer has been really warm so far, so it’s nice if it get’s a bit cooler. I loved Trish her post about memes as well! Memes certainly can be fun!

  6. It’s been raining, pouring a lot here. On thursday, I got poured on going to work and spent the whole day completely wet. I had an umbrella, but I wasn’t any use lol ! I get what you’re saying on meme : if you like them, follow them, if you don’t, go see somewhere else and leave those who like them alone. Simple, huh ?
    Have a great week 😉

  7. Memes are probably one of my most favourite things. I have no idea where they came from but I don’t want them to ever go away!

It has been horrible weather here too! It is so windy and wet! :’)

I love the cover of Nest! I have never heard of it though so I will keep an eye out for your review!

    Thanks for sharing! 😀

  8. That’s the way it always seems to go. No rain for weeks and weeks followed by a grey and gloomy deluge for weeks and weeks. A little mixing would be nice! I think my opinion on memes is a lot like yours so I’ll have to go check out the link. Have a great and hopefully sunnier week!
