Top Ten Books I Really Want To Read But Don’t Own Yet

What? There are books that I want to read but don’t own yet? Believe it or not, there are. I’m limiting this to books that have already been released.

Welcome to the Dark House by Laurie Faria Stolarz Popular by Maya van Wagenen The Originals by Cat Patrick

Why I Don’t Own It

01. Welcome to the Dark House by Laurie Faria Stolarz – I love horror movies and I’m starting to get interested in horror books, but YA horror isn’t really a popular genre so I’m not aware of as many titles as I am in other genres like dystopians or contemporaries. Welcome to the Dark House sounds so good and I’ve read a few good reviews. I’m looking forward to reading it but I haven’t purchased it yet because I want to wait and read it closer to Halloween.

02. Popular: Vintage Wisdom for a Modern Geek by Maya Van Wagenen – I was more interested in Popular before I read some negative reviews. I do still want to read it, but it’s not as high on my TBR as it once was. I still love the cover though. I was a big fan of paper dolls when I was six or seven.

03. The Originals by Cat Patrick – I saw this one recently on Book Haven and immediately decided I wanted to read it. I need to buy it

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins Just Like the Movies by Kelly Fiore

Why I Don’t Own It

04. Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins – I just read Anna and the French Kiss this month and I loved it! I haven’t had time to read Lola and the Boy Next Door yet, though, so I’ve held off buying Isla until I at least start it. I’m not usually the type of person to binge read an author or a series, but I’m definitely getting to Lola and Isla soonish.

05. Just Like the Movies by Kelly Fiore – The main reason that I haven’t bought Just Like the Movies is that I feel like I’ve been reading too many contemporaries lately and want to go back to some other genres before I get burned out. There are still contemporaries I want to read that are a higher priority than this one.

Hood by Stephen R Lawhead Cop Town by Karin Slaughter

Why I Don’t Own It

06. Hood by Stephen R. Lawhead – I love Robin Hood stories and this one sounds as good as any other, but I haven’t made it a priority to get it.

07. Cop Town by Karin Slaughter – I loved Slaughter’s early books, but haven’t been able to get into her Will Trent series even through it crosses over with her Grant County series. This one is a standalone and I’m hoping that I can go back to reading her again. Two reasons I haven’t bought Cop Town: I don’t read much adult fiction anymore and I’m a little wary of reading a book set the 1970s. It’s just not a time period I’m interested in. I’ll get to it someday (soon?) though!

The XYZs of Being Wicked by Lara Chapman Sisters by Raina Telgemeier The Battle of Darcy Lane by Tara Altebrando

Why I Don’t Own It

08. The XYZs of Being Wicked by Lara Chapman – Witches, boarding school, and middle grade: this is a book I have to read. I don’t own it because Barnes & Noble didn’t have it when I last stopped in with a coupon. It’s a July 2014 release, so I’m hoping they have it next time.

09. Sisters by Raina Telgemeier – Technically I probably shouldn’t count this one because it just came out today, but I’ve been looking forward to it all summer. My older Kindle won’t be able to handle it, so I’m going to have to buy either a physical copy or for the Kindle app on my iPad.

10. The Battle of Darcy Lane by Tara Altebrando – I put this on my Goodreads TBR before I was as into middle grade as I am now. I just haven’t had the chance to buy it yet, but it’s near the top of my wishlist.

    • I hope I like it as much as you did. It’s funny that the girls remind me a little of Nina Dobrev (probably the long dark hair, since they don’t actually look that much like her) and The Originals is the name of the spin-off show of The Vampire Diaries.
