Weekly Rewind: June 29 – July 5

weeklyrewind

The Weekly Rewind is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

life

The weather has been cool and not humid this week, which is unusual for this time of the summer. My husband and I have been backyard camping all week. It’s not quite like camping for real, but we love the convenience of having access to our kitchen (and bathroom) and we don’t have to leave our cats home alone or board them.

I’m not a big fan of fireworks — I’m generally bored after five minutes — but we decided to go to them last night. They were supposed to start at dusk and there was limited parking, so we thought we would be smart and park at the Walmart across the highway from where they were holding the fireworks. When we got there at 8:00, there were at least 150 cars already there. I guess we weren’t the only ones who thought up that plan. Dusk came and went. I was glad I had my Kindle because it wasn’t until 9:45 that they started. And…they were over by 10:05. I pulled out my Kindle again (we were near parking lot lights) and we waited about half an hour more until the traffic had died out before leaving.

The List by Siobhan Vivian, Paranormal Public by Maddy Edwards, Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater

Barnes & Noble sent me a coupon this week so I went to buy On the Fence by Kasie West. They didn’t have it, but they did have next week’s releases. I almost bought Through to You by Lauren Barnholdt but ended up with The List instead. There were several others I wanted (including Sinner) but they were hardcover and I only buy paperbacks (and ebooks).

For Review

Pink & Green is the New Black by Lisa Greenwald yolo by Lauren Myracle

Pink & Green is the New Black by Lisa Greenwald, yolo by Lauren Myracle

I always research books on Goodreads before requesting them, but I somehow missed that Pink & Green is the third book in a series. Fortunately it’s not out until October so I will have time to read the first two.

Currently Reading: How We Deal with Gravity by Ginger Scott

  1. I am excited for your reviews, most of these are new to me. I totally agree about the fireworks. I went out onto a pontoon in the middle of the lake and it started to rain and was windy, it was miserable! I wanted nothing more than for them to get done!

    • The fireworks were nice, but I was annoyed that we waited all that time for a 20 minute show! But If we had arrived much later, there wouldn’t have been anywhere to park. It did start raining on the way home, but it was just a shower.

  2. I grabbed paranormal public too. I remember that The List was on my wishlist but I never got around to buying it.

I got the ebook from you this week and put it in my weekly wrap up ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Thanks again!

    Happy Reading!

    • I hope you like the book! I’ve been looking at The List for awhile but never noticed that they had the paperback until this week. I’ve only seen the hardcover there before. The paperback was on an endcap so I guess I was overlooking it.

  3. We went to the fireworks and they were pretty good, but we waited almost an hour to get out afterward (place was jampacked) so that kinda sucked. Luckily it was a nice night for the most part.

Paranormal Public sounds like it might be good. Have a great week.

  5. I got Paranormal Public for free on Amazon too! ๐Ÿ™‚ I am really looking forward to it. It doesn’t look to bad for a freebie! ๐Ÿ™‚

The weather has been pretty crap here in the UK. It has been just wet and humid I also left my coat at a party so that is bad for me and this weather! :/

Thanks for sharing & hope you have a great week! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. We live out in the country, so normally a few house around us do fireworks. Not this year, it was quiet. ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy your week and the new books.

  7. Backyard camping sounds like a lot of fun! I think we’ll have to try it some day. I’m neutral on the whole fireworks thing myself but my husband and kids love them. Kindles save the day pretty frequently! The Purple and Green books look interesting. Lucky that you caught that it’s the 3rd in time though! Have a great week!

  8. I am not a huge fan of fireworks either. I dont like being in the big crowds so late and then trying to get out of field afterwards with all the traffic is well…. I just dont go ๐Ÿ˜€

  9. That’s the kind of camping I like!! And we are not huge fans of fireworks now that my girls are older. My husband hates big crowds and dealing with traffic so we just watched the new Transformer movies and BBQ. I have to get Sinner soon. I didn’t like the ending of the series but I do want to learn more about Cole. I hope you like it and I’ll look out for your review. Thanks for visiting my blog and have a great week!

    • Cole wasn’t one of my favorites, but I’m interested to revisit the whole world of the Mercy Falls werewolves. It’s funny I bought Sinner last week and this week I got approved for it on NetGalley.

  10. I am a big fan of fireworks, in the city where I live the local government always celebrate holidays like New Year, Christmas, Fiestas and Cityhood Day with fireworks. I even got hit my firework debris twice! ๐Ÿ˜€

yolo is a really unusual title for a book, I’m really intrigued by that book ๐Ÿ˜€
