Picks of the Month: July 2014

Picks of the Month is my monthly feature. Modeled after what I’m loving lately at Annie’s Eats (one of my favorite food blogs), I’ll be sharing the products, websites, pop culture, apps, etc that made my life easier and/or more fun the previous month. And, yes, as this is a book blog, I will probably find a way to sneak some mention of my favorite reads from the month too!

The Because Show

I’ve written several posts about the podcasts I listen to. Up until now, I’ve only listened to podcasts related to TV shows, but this month I started listening to The Because Show. TBS is part of the Bald Move network, home of many of my favorite podcasts. Jerilyn, Susan, and Amy get together each week(ish) to talk about whatever’s on their minds. Sometimes they even talk about books! I haven’t listened to many episodes yet, but the ones I have listened to they talked about a photoshoot they did and periods, including period horror stories. They started podcasting in 2009 and while I’m not sure I’m going to go back that far, I’m going to be digging into their archives soon. I’m also going to be looking for more podcasts of this type. As much as I love my TV podcasts, sometimes it’s nice to listen to something else.

When the Night Comes Dress - ModCloth

I bought this When the Night Comes Dress in Violet to wear to a wedding. I love it!

I started watching Dance Academy on TeenNick soon after my cable company added the channel a couple of years ago. I waited and waited for season 3 to come to the US, but it still hasn’t. Last week I was Googling it, as I do every few months, and I found out that it’s on Netflix! We resubscribed to Netflix a few months ago (after a hiatus of more than a year), so I can watch season 3! I haven’t seen many episodes yet, but I’m working my way through them. I love this show and I’m going to be sad to get to the end.
