Weekly Rewind: June 15-28

The Weekly Rewind is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

life

I didn’t get a chance to do pictures of the garden last week and now that the plants are pretty much full-grown, I think I’m going to stop that and just do harvest photos.

Green Beans 06/24/14 Tomatoes 06/26/14

This week I picked my first green beans and tomatoes. I also had more strawberries and the last of the blueberries.

My peas and squash plants aren’t doing very well, but every time I start to give up on them, they seem to rebound. I’m still watering and keeping an eye on them.

Remember how I wanted to grow raspberries but by the time I went back to get them, the plants were mostly dead? Last week I was talking to a friend who told me that last month she gave away a raspberry plant and a blueberry plant! She said she actually tried to throw them away, but the yard waste pickup didn’t take them (probably because she didn’t take them out of their containers) so she asked around until she found a friend to take them. She said I could have had them for free if she’d known I wanted them. She had them for several years already, so they were a lot bigger and more productive than my blueberry plant and the raspberry one I will buy next year.

  1. Great haul! I cannot wait to get some fresh beans and tomatoes! They look amazing!

    • The tomatoes should be ready for eating today. There was a third one that a squirrel had already gotten to, so I picked these when I probably could have left them on the vine a little longer. I counted last night when I was watering and I have 40 tomatoes in various stages of growth right now!

  2. Never got to do a garden this year and I am so bummed about it. We just didn’t have time to put it together. I really wanted to get fresh tomatoes since my daughter loves them.

How did you get Say Her Name? I want that books so bad and I saw they have the paperback on Amazon but no kindle edition. Did you get the book? I might have to settle for that since I can’t find it at all. Even sent a message to the author asking when it will be available in the US. He didn’t have an answer. I hope you enjoy it. It’s one of my MUST reads this year. I have been awaiting a year for it and when I found out I couldn’t get it I almost cried. Lol

Have a great week and Happy Reading!!!

    • Sorry you didn’t get to do a garden this year. Maybe next year!

Getting Say Her Name was so frustrating for me. I would have preferred the Kindle version, but Amazon didn’t have it, like you said. At one time they did have the paperback so I pre-ordered it a few days before release. Then they never shipped it and when I went back to check, it was only available through third-party sellers, not Amazon itself. I ended up ordering it from Book Depository and then it seemed like it took forever for it to get here. You can have my copy if you’d like. I have to finish my review first, but if you email me your address (ratherbereadingya at gmail) I’ll send it out as soon as I get it done. I’m giving it 4 1/2 or 5 stars!

  3. I’ve just started picking tomatoes too! Nothing better than fresh produce. That’s too bad about the Raspberry bushes. I keep thinking about adding berries but I don’t have space for it right now. Looks like you got some great books this week. Have a great week!
