Top Ten Tuesday: Resolutions and Goals

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Top Ten Goals/Resolutions For 2014

I’m not really a resolutions type of girl, but I do have some goals in mind. “Be more active on social media” SHOULD be one of my goals, but I’m not even going to list it because I know I won’t do it. It’s way too time-consuming, I’m pretty much over Twitter, and I only use Facebook for games.

01. Organization and scheduling. I touched on this on my weekly rewind post on Sunday, but I want to get ahead so that I’m not scrambling each week to get posts done the night before. I don’t want to get so far ahead, though, that I don’t even remember writing posts that are going up. I just want a balance between rushing and flexibility.

02. Stop putting reviews off. I mentioned this on Sunday, too. I want to write my reviews while I still remember the books. I usually do pretty well, but sometimes I’m not in the mood to write a review so I put it off. Then, two weeks later, it’s three times as hard to write the review because I’ve read two or three more books. And sometimes I’ve even written reviews on those books instead of the one I read earlier.

03. Redesign my blog. I like the pink and the cats, but I also like to change things up. I’m ready for something new.

04. Be more consistency with memes and commenting. I know they get a bad rap, but I like memes. I like doing them and I like reading them. I don’t mean that I want to do every meme every week, but when I do one, I want to be better at commenting on other people’s meme posts (and other posts too!). I used to do this a lot more than I do now. I’ll work on it.

05. Be better at replying to comments. I’m signed up with Bloggers Commenting Back and I do try to answer all comments and visit your blogs. I think the only time I really failed at this is that period right after Thanksgiving when my cat was at the animal hospital for several nights. I let those comments I received at that time slip by without answering them and I STILL feel guilty about that, believe it or not. But my main problem lately is that I don’t reply back/visit back as quickly as I would like. My goal is 48 hours, tops.

06. Complete my 2014 reading challenges. In addition to my road trip challenge and debut author challenges, I’m also doing the Goodreads challenge. I read 129 books in 2013, so I set my goal for 125 for 2014.

07. Clean up my Goodreads account. It’s a disorganized mess.

08. Finish Project 365. I’ve attempted — and failed at — Project 365 for FIVE years now. For Project 365, the goal is to take a photo every day for the entire year. I usually make it until sometime in the summer before I give up. Not this year. This year I’m going to finish. I’m not going to let myself fall behind so that I have to take two pictures a day for an entire week in order to catch up. (That’s where I go wrong EVERY SINGLE YEAR.) I am going to keep up. I’m going to post my photos. I WILL do this. In case you missed in on my weekly rewind post: I have Project 365 blog.

09. Plan ahead when it comes to my gardening. Last year was the first year I planted much more than tomatoes and herbs. At various times, I had tomatoes, herbs, lettuce, spinach, potatoes, green beans, and peas. All in containers! This year, I want to expand that and I want to have it all planned ahead of time so that I’m not just randomly planting seeds. I got started a little too late last year, both in the spring and in the fall. (My fall peas froze.) I have started a blog for this, but haven’t posted anything there yet. I’ll share the link when I do.

10. Start and complete my Wreck This Journal. I bought myself a Wreck This Journal a few months ago but I haven’t started it yet. It sounds like one of things I’ll eventually start, but abandon before I finish. I don’t want to do that.

  1. I like the design of your blog! But I totally understand that feeling of being ready for a change. Also, that project 365 sounds so cool!

  3. I’ve always wanted to do Project 365, I might start it on my birthday. Good luck! And your list of goals is great, I know you can do them!

  4. Fantastic goals!

I would also like to organise my blogging more and schedule my posts more! 🙂 I try not to put my reviews off, and I generally don’t, I make sure I don’t read any books until I’ve finished the review that I’m currently working on, so everything is fresh in my mind!

    • That’s the way to do it. Right now I have two more reviews of books I read awhile back and I don’t even know if I can write them. I really liked both books, so I want to write the review and share what I liked about them. It’s just so hard to remember things now though.

    • Back in September I had scheduled about a month out, but I didn’t keep up with it and now I’m back to trying to schedule things a week at a time. I’m really hoping to get a month ahead and stay that way. It was so easy to let things slide and get back to this point though.

  6. I feel you on #2. I’m currently a month or so (yikes!) behind on reviews. It’s so much harder to review a book when it’s been a long time since you read it. I’m hoping to catch up this month. Wish me luck!

Good luck on your goals. I hope you rock them all. Happy New Year!

  7. Your cat was sick??? NOOOOO!! My little kitties are getting older. Both have diabetes so I try to manage that as best as possible. Love them soo much!

    • My cats are both 13. One of them is sitting in front of the monitor as I type. I’m having to scroll up and down to see what I’m typing, LOL. The other one, who was in the animal hopsital, is in kidney failure. It isn’t curable, but we’re treating it and she’s doing much better. She has a lot more energy, she’s gaining weight back, and she’s eating well.

  8. Good Luck with your P365. I’ve attempted this in the past and never been successful after the first month, so I’d don’t even set it as a goal.

I like the idea of ‘Bloggers Commenting Back’. I’m going to check that one out to see if it is something I can do.

    Thanks for visiting my blog!
