2014 Reading Challenges

I know there are a ton of reading challenges for 2014 out there, but I haven’t formally signed up for any of them. I’m kind of going off on my own and doing some personal challenges. I might still do some smaller (monthly or whatever) challenges throughout the year as they come up.

Debut Author Challenge – Just like last year, the plan is to read one debut author’s book each month. My rule is that ARCs don’t count unless I read them after publication.

01. January – The Unseemly Education of Anne Merchant by Joanna Wiebe
02. February – Alienated by Melissa Landers
03. March –
04. April –
05. May – Wish You Were Italian by Kristin Rae
06. June –
07. July –
08. August –
09. September –
10. October –
11. November –
12. December –

Life is a Highway: Road Trip Challenge – I’m going to read 12 road trip books, one for each month. Ideally I will read one during each month, but I might forget and have to double or triple up.

01. The Disenchantments by Nina Lacour
02. Two-Way Street by Lauren Barnholdt
03. How My Summer Went Up in Flames by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski
04. Perfect Escape – Jennifer Brown
05. 16 Things I Thought Were True – Janet Gurtler
06. Saving June by Hannah Harrington
07. Reunited by Hilary Weisman Graham
08. The Museum of Intangible Things – Wendy Wunder
09. Once Upon a Road Trip – Angela N. Blount
10. Right of Way – Lauren Barnholdt
11. You Are Here – Jennifer E. Smith
12. Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson

  1. I never sign up for challenges. But I do enjoy making goals for the number of books I will read that year.

  2. I signed-up for some reading challenged last year, but I usually find it hard to keep track of them and remember to visit the website of the blogger who hosted the challenge. I like your idea of just doing your own challenges :).

    • Sometimes when I sign up for a hosted challenge, I end up not wanting to do it by the time it starts. Like, yesterday I saw a challenge that stars in March. As of January 1, I have no idea what type of books I’m going to feel like reading in March. I think I will be able to do my Road Trip Challenge though because I’ve been really wanting to read those books for months!

  3. I love the road trip challenge! Thanks so much for directing me to your list, I’ve pretty much now added them all to my GR to-read shelf. Road trips make me happy. Thanks for stopping by my TTT! – Rachel
