Discussion: Head to Toe Books

This morning while looking for a pair of clean socks to wear now that it’s no longer warm enough to go barefoot all the time, I pulled out a pair with Christmas trees on them. Yes, I wore my Christmas tree socks to work in SEPTEMBER. I wasn’t trying to be like all the stores that are putting out Christmas merchandise and commercials already, I just love themed socks. Every time a holiday comes around, I try to buy at least one pair. Besides Christmas, I have Halloween, Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, and Valentine’s Day, and I’m trying to expand to include other holidays.

One day I ran across The Sock Wizard. LOOK AT ALL THOSE WONDERFUL SOCKS! I seriously want one of each pair, especially these socks with books on them.

That made me think about other clothing and accessories related to books. You can learn to make your own book earrings on WikiHow, or buy some cute ones on Etsy. How about these Harry Potter or Hunger Games book cover earrings? Is The Fault in Our Stars or Jane Eyre your favorite book? Maybe you would rather have a bracelet? Etsy has those too. I love this made-to-order open book wire bracelet and this upcycled banned book bracelet. It’s made out of Scrabble tiles!

Out of Print Clothing has book-related shirts (along with other accessories), everything from Nancy Drew to Pride and Prejudice and even Moby Dick.

Garnet Hill has a skirt covered in books.

Do you need a bag to carry around all your books? I found a lot of them on Zazzle and Cafepress, including this Baby’s Got Book tote bag.

Gonereading.com has a whole line of book products: shirts, action figures, car window decals, bookplates, magnets, and more.

If I had an iPhone, I would want a Nancy Drew case for it. If you’d rather have a vintage-looking iPhone case, the BookBook Case is a little expensive but also functions as a wallet.

If you want to be a little more subtle about your love for books, head back to Etsy and check out Literary Lacquer, an indie nail polish brand with collections for Dracula, Anne of Green Gables, and more.

Do you have any favorite book-related products?

(Please note: I haven’t purchased from any of the merchants linked above. I just liked their products found through Google searches.)

  1. LOVE those earrings! I was cleaning out my craft closet and found some of those earring bases — I’m going to try to make those!

  4. Oh wow! I love your bookish finds. Those HP earrings really want me to start wearing one now. Not only earrings but I also want HP dolls and figurines and other stuff enough to make me put up an HP shrine.

And a Nancy Drew Phone case would look really awesome. I prefer the Hardy Boys phone case though. Hahaha

    • I don’t wear earrings much but I would wear some of those book earrings. I don’t need a whole HP shrine. I don’t have the space! I collect Nancy Drew books so I would have a phone case to match my bookshelf.

  5. Hahah. I’m curious what the Christmas tree socks look like. And yeah, Costco had Christmas lights out in the summer time. It’s really extraordinary just how commercial the holiday is… I hope the socks were comfy! You buying one pair for each holiday is reminding me of Dumbledore ;).

BOOK EARRINGS?? D’awww they’re so cute. Etsy has some of the best stuff. Do you follow Asti at A Bookish Heart? She has this great feature called Bookish Finds – doesn’t feature other clothing or accessories, but generally features artwork related to books, which is pretty cool too. A BOOK BRACELET MADE OF SCRABBLE TILES. Man, you are a great resource for this. I’m going to have to bookmark this page so I can pin some of these items soon…

Book related shirts are the best. I think of all the things you’ve listed that I’d wear, it’d be those. Especially one from Pride and Prejudice. (What do you like best? Is it the socks? :D)

Or, it’s the Nancy Drew iPhone case. Oh, Nancy Drew. I just came from reading your Fangirl review and I’m telling you, you are just making me feel all nostalgic for a bunch of different things. Funny thing is — all these get me so excited and I want to buy them, but I’m not sure I actually have bought anything book-related in terms of clothing/accessories wise. I spend so much of my money on books that it makes me feel guilty to buy anything else related to them o.O. What are your favorite book-related products?

    • The Christmas tree socks are in the laundry or I would take a picture of them. I love all the socks on that Sock Wizard site but they’re pretty expensive for socks. I usually get them at Target. Sometimes I can even find them on clearance, but they’re usually gone by the time the holiday is over and they get marked down. I like the Goodnight Moon shirt on the Out of Print clothing site. I don’t actually like the skirt that much but I wanted to include it because it was interesting. I think the only clothing I’ve bought related to books was The Hunger Games nail polishes put out by China Glaze, my favorite nail polish company. I didn’t buy all of them, just the ones I really liked. I know I have Harvest Moon and Riveting and I think I have Electrify too.
