Waiting on Wednesday #6: Daylighters (The Morganville Vampires #15) by Rachel Caine

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine.

Daylighters (The Morganville Vampires #15) by Rachel Caine
Publication date: November 5, 2013

While Morganville, Texas, is often a troubled town, Claire Danvers and her friends are looking forward to coming home. But the Morganville they return to isn’t the one they know; it’s become a different place—a deadly one…

Something drastic has happened in Morganville while Claire and her friends were away. The town looks cleaner and happier than they’ve ever seen it before, but when their incoming group is arrested and separated—vampires from humans—they realize that the changes definitely aren’t for the better.

It seems that an organization called the Daylight Foundation has offered the population of Morganville something they’ve never had: hope of a vampire-free future. And while it sounds like salvation—even for the vampires themselves—the truth is far more sinister and deadly.

Now, Claire, Shane and Eve need to find a way to break their friends out of Daylighter custody, before the vampires of Morganville meet their untimely end…

This is going to be the last book in the Morganville Vampires series. I think I left off after the ninth, so I have a few to read before November. I don’t love the series as much as I did at the beginning, but I still like it and want to see it through.

Comments

  1. My sister-in-law keeps urging me to start this series. I really need to, huh? 😉 It’s sad, but I’ve noticed I usually like beginning of a series more too, especially when I have to wait years for the remainder of the series to publish. Hope you get your hands on a copy soon and you enjoy it just as much as the previous books.

    Happy Wednesday!

    • Sometimes it feels like with a longer series, the author only keeps going because of their contract. It’s always fun to really get to know the characters well though, and you can’t always do that in a stand-alone or a shorter series.

  3. Well, you stuck to it longer than me. I left after Fade Out. I love the series, but when it becomes too long and drawn out I’ll start getting annoyed. I’d rather leave a series I love at a time where the major part is done and tied up nicely and not carrying on. I’ll eventually read the rest, probably, just to see how it finally finished.
