Feature & Follow Friday #1: Reading Format

Feature & Follow is a weekly blog hop hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.

Q: What is your preferred reading format? Hardcover, eBooks, paperback etc?

I don’t like hardcovers. I never have. They’re too expensive, too clunky, too big. I’ll read them if I have to — if I can get one cheaper than any other way — but all things being equal, I won’t choose one over any other format.

I spent most of my life reading paperbacks, and I still love them, but I do most of my reading now on my Kindle. Her name is Sally — I name all my electronics Sally — and she’s a 2nd generation Kindle, almost exactly 3 years old. (I just checked and I placed my order on June 27, 2010.) A few weeks after I got it, Amazon announced a new version and gave people who had recently purchased the 2nd gen Kindle some money back. Yay! I know there are newer and fancier Kindles — and Nooks — out there now, but I’m happy with Sally.

I read faster with my e-reader, which means I get to read more books. I love being able to carry around multiple books without having to carry the actual books around. Sometimes I’ll be reading one book and realize that I’m not in the mood for it, and with my Kindle, I can just move on to another book so easily.
